Family Farm EcoHoliday
(Lots of kids think that food comes from the supermarket)

Enjoy the magic of watching your children engage with nature, collecting the mornings eggs, feeding the ducks and playing in the long grass. Try your hand at making bread, or get up early and hand milk the cow, or maybe lie in bed while we cook breakfast.

You set the pace and you choose the activities to join in with. We'll make sure you are comfortable and well fed.

Our organic farmlet is part of the Otamatea Eco Village on the Kaipara Harbour,   and is run along Permaculture  Principles.  It is our goal to achieve a high degree of self sufficiency.  We grow and eat our own veges and fruit, we have chicken (eggs) and cattle (beef and dairy). We live and eat with the seasons, all food is organic and prepared with lots of aroha.

Kids in the age group from 5 to 12 years seem to get the most out of this experience– Stay for a couple of days and join our activities. These can include any of the following:  milking a cow, making yoghurt, baking bread (no breadmaker involved), making firewood and burning it too, feeding the chicken and ducks, going bush and roaming, hunting for wildlife, playing with the dogs….

The meals will be served in our warm home. Accommodation for you and your family is in our light earth barn (2 double beds and 1 sofa) just across the yard with it’s own simple facilities.
